What are the dates of camp and how long is Camp ReCreation?
Camp is held the first two full weeks of June. 2011 sessions for counselors will be Sunday June 5th-Thursday June 9th and Sunday June 12th-Friday June 17th 2011 sessions for campers will be Monday June 6th-Thursday June 9th and Monday June 13th-Thursday June 16th.

Where is Camp ReCreation held?
Camp ReCreation is held at the Richardton-Taylor High School in Richardton, ND with various scheduled activities in the community.

How many people attend Camp ReCreation?
Each session will have approximately 35 campers in addition to approximately 55 volunteers (including counselors, volunteers, staff, and directors).

How is Camp ReCreation funded?
Camp ReCreation is a 501c3 non-profit organization. We are funded largely by donations and grants.

How can I help at Camp ReCreation?
Camp Recreation is always looking for volunteers to help with all aspects of Camp. We need counselors, teachers, day and night nurses, cooks, task force, general volunteers, and more. General volunteers can include bus drivers, individuals who are willing to help with registration and check out, banquet staff, etc. Please contact the Camp ReCreation office for more information on how to help.
Camp ReCreation greatly appreciates anyone who would like to donate baked goods or food items during camp. We ask that you please bring all items to the kitchen at Richardton-Taylor High School during the dates of camp. If you would like to donate food items for meals please contact the office for more information.

As a counselor, what is expected of me?
As a counselor, you will participate in activities alongside of your camper, aide in their hygiene and personal care and assist with meals. It is your responsibility to help ensure the success of camp for your camper by promoting a fun experience.

Why are counselors required to attend Camp ReCreation longer?
The Sunday prior to the camper’s arrival is orientation for the counselors. This is a way to prepare counselors for the week and allow them to meet fellow counselors, directors, and staff. The second week is extended through Friday to accommodate the Annual Volunteer Appreciation Night held on Thursday June 17th and to assist in moving out.

As a counselor, how many campers will I be paired with?
In most cases counselors are only paired with one camper. In some cases a returning counselor will be paired with two campers, although that occasion is rare.

As a camper, what is expected of me?
As a camper, your expectations are to participate in camp activities and having fun with other campers, counselors and staff. You are responsible for the success of camp by staying positive, participating and respecting others and the guidelines of Camp ReCreation.

What types of activities do you do at Camp ReCreation?
Each year there a variety of activities, such as, bonfires, swimming, bowling, outdoor games, dances and more. Along with these great activities camper’s and counselor’s attend daily classes together (art, religion, games, music).

How much does it cost to attend Camp ReCreation?
The camper fee is $175. The camper fee will increase to $200 for late and incomplete applications received after May 10th, 2010. Upon request, Camp ReCreation will be willing to set up a payment plan for qualified Campers. Please contact the office for more information.

The counselor fee is $10 each week, this helps cover the costs of snacks, pop, etc. 

Are meals provided?
Yes, all meals and snacks will be provided for everyone.

Are there age limits for campers and volunteers?
Camp ReCreation does not have an age limit for campers.
Camp ReCreation requests that you be at least 14 years of age before you apply to be a volunteer.

Does Camp ReCreation allow attendee’s off campus?
All participants are required to stay on the school grounds unless it is for scheduled group activities.

What do I bring with?
You will receive a list of things to bring with you to Camp ReCreation when you receive your acceptance letter from us.

What kind of clothing should I pack for Camp?
Camp ReCreation is casual-dress; we are a Christian based camp and encourage modesty in clothing choices. We ask counselors and campers to please keep your clothing choices appropriate (ie: no spaghetti-strapped tank tops, short shorts, etc.). Tasteful clothing selections ensure that our attention is focused on creating a positive environment for our campers, counselors and other volunteers.

Can I bring a friend?
YES! We encourage you to bring friends along who would like to experience Camp ReCreation either as a fellow volunteer or camper.

How will Camp ReCreation benefit me?
Camp ReCreation is a wonderful place to make new friendships, rekindle old ones, as well as build bridges of understanding and friendship between campers and counselors. You can also earn required community service hours, service ministry or possibly even get college credit. 

May I attend Camp ReCreation both weeks or am I limited to just one week?
Due to the higher amount of camper applications we ask that campers only attend one session.
As a volunteer you are more than welcome to attend Camp ReCreation for both sessions.

Is Camp ReCreation wheelchair accessible?
Yes, Camp ReCreation utilizes the facilities at the Richardton-Taylor High School, which is one level.Doors and entryways are all wide enough to accommodate a wheel chair.

Does Camp ReCreation have t-shirts?

Camp ReCreation does offer camp t-shirts for $10 each. They are preordered so we ask to please let us know ahead of time. 

Can I invite my friends and family to Camp ReCreation events?

Camp ReCreation encourages the public to attend any of our scheduled events. If your family or friends would like to stay for any of our meals (like the banquet) we ask for $5/per person to help cover the food expense. 

What is the best way to contact my son or daughter while they are at Camp ReCreation?
Since cell phones are not allowed at Camp ReCreation we ask that you please call 1 (701) 974-3774 and speak to a director. We will gladly get you in touch with your son or daughter as needed.

Are Electronics allowed at Camp ReCreation?

For the safety of your electronics we ask that you limit the types of electronics that you bring to Camp ReCreation. We encourage you to bring your camera to capture great memories during your stay. You may also bring an MP3 Player to listen to your favorite tunes during breaks. However, please remember that Camp ReCreation is a Christian based camp and only appropriate music will be allowed. 

Cell phones and laptops ARE NOT ALLOWED at camp. All cell phones and laptops will be turned over to the Directors when you arrive at Camp ReCreation. If you need to make a phone call, the Directors will provide a phone for your use. If you have questions or concerns please contact the office. 

Is Camp ReCreation open to the public?

Yes, we welcome the public to attend any of our scheduled activities. A schedule will be posted on our website to help determine what events you would like to attend.
